Mrs. Mary is a teacher with over 18 years of experience . After having taught students with a range of ages between seven to over 35 years, Mrs. Mary has learned that once you identify a person's individual learning styles, you have to approach each individual and cater to their styles. Once you achieve this, their educational abilities can be enhanced.
Mrs. Mary loves her job and feels proud of her students. "I enjoy engaging each child without regard to their potential. "The sky is the limit!" When you engage children in different ways , you can achieve a different level of success.
With her mission statement," Where Learning is a way a of life", Mrs. Mary believes that learning has no boundaries or time constraint. With a wonderful sense of humor and faith, Mrs. Mary enjoys teaching the individual and feels a satisfaction once certain goals are met.
Her first experience was teaching a child to read when Mrs. Mary was ten years old and the child was five. Her name was Michelle. Within five months, Michelle could master a kindergarten level Reading book. As time passed,Mrs. Mary would attend Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School and had a Math problem in Fifth Grade. Her parents sent her to a tutor . Even though Mrs. Mary did not enjoy her tutoring, this tutor taught her essential Study Skills which pushed Mrs. Mary to move forward and achieve a new perspective on learning. She excelled in Junior High and throughout high school . She graduated from Florida International University with a Bachelor's in English with a minor in Journalism, Photography, and Political Science.
She felt a need to give back ,so she obtained a job at Sts. Peter and Paul School in Miami, Florida as a Junior High English Teacher and started The Pep Rally Committee to increase school spirit as well as Spear headed the Panther Press where children worked for the first time with Microsoft Publisher to design the new look of the school newspaper.
Mrs. Mary felt a need to reach older students to prepare them for universities, so she made the move to Immaculata-La Salle High School in Coconut Grove, Florida. She taught Ninth and Tenth Grade English for eight years as well as moderated both Freshmen and Sophomore Classes , managed the Pep Club, and became school Photographer.
As the dot.com business became a frenzy, Mrs. Mary felt a need to help her husband in their website: www.ralphcabrera.com. It became a portfolio/ sales website which would launch the beginning a husband /wife partnership which would eventually introduce their series of books which began publication in December of 2016. The first book in the series is called " My Mommy's Having Twins". She would also tutor to save money for self publication>
The book is available for purchase through www.ralphcabrera.com .
After a seven year crisis with Second Child Infertitlity, Mrs. Mary finally gave birth to twins. Once the twins were born, Mrs. Mary still felt her calling for Teaching, so she would tutor and her parents would take care of the twins as Mrs. Mary's Tutoring took off working afternoons from 3-7PM Monday through Friday. As the demands of having children, elderly parents, a business, and household chores took over, Mrs. Mary and her husband decided to give more individual time to her oldest, Candy. They enrolled Candy in homeschooling and has been homeschooling all her children for over nine years.
Mrs. Mary is very involved in their homeschooling group . Mrs Mary currently works with transitional homeschoolers and their parents to provide curriculum options as well as lesson plan direction. . From directing plays in her backyard to overseeing Career Day Events, supporting new mothers with curriculum guidance, assisting on field trips, providing music and providing photography classes to the homeschooling yearbook , Mrs. Mary tries to give back to homeschooling .
She believes it is important to teach our children to give back to the community where they live in, schools they have attended, or support groups that have helped them in the past. She continues to enjoy her passion for writing through blogging in a number of sites such as Trip Advisor under the blogger name Gottahavefun.
